Light painting is a quick and simple activity for children - all you need is a dark space and a torch or other light source, as well as a camera capable of taking long exposures. In the above image, my niece was briefly exposed with the camera's flash, then I jumped in and "drew" around her with a torch. The below image was created with the flash turned off.
